Idd, totaal nutteloos..
Today, another post on Transmission-Adaptions, as this pops up over and over!
First, we want you to know, that xHP does NOT reset adaptions. Never. Never. Never.
We also won't implement any function to reset them, as this should be done only with good reason and not just because of an oil change or on a regular basis, like some people claim it.
Adaptions have only one purpose: Try to level shift quality over the transmissions lifetime. There is NO permanent learning whatsoever, regarding behaviour, spontanity to driver reactions or shiftpoint alteration. Sadly, this is nowadays common believe in internet forums. The source is probably material from BMW or ZF, which got interpreted wrong. Mainly because it's written from a marketing standpoint and not really a technical view. "The transmission adapts to the driver..." does sound nice and someone may interpret into this sentence, whatever sounds appealing to him. Fact is, the transmission adapts to various driving situations and uses a lot of data from the car and the drivers inputs, but that is happening real-time and does not lead to any permanent alteration of the stored maps in the TCU.
Below a screenshot from the adaption-read screen from xHP, with the important part marked read!
